British player takes
Gold Winner's Trophy
at GAY BRIDGE 2001

Playing in the IAGLBC tournament in Palm Springs, California, October 24 - 18, Linsday Scandrett of London took the gold trophy in Flight B of the IAGLBC tournament, earning 6.19 ACBL Masterpoints in overall play.

British and Irish Bridge players were well represented at Gay Bridge 2001 by a group of 8 players organized by Anthony Lamb. In addition to distinguishing themselves in Duplicate Bridge, this group hosted a spendid reception on Friday October 26, serving excellent food and classic British drinks. The news from the British Gay press, displayed during the reception, offered interesting articles and great photos! The reception area was decorated with British and Irish flags, and the fun was climaxed with a written quiz in which participants were to answer questions about British events, past and present, e.g., Which Queen said, "We are not amused"? The winner of the quiz, Donn Lentz of Canada, received a bottle of Pimms.

The British and Irish reception was one of the highlights of the entire five days of Gay Bridge 2001. For pictures from this reception, plus the British and Irish participants, go to PHOTO PAGE.
